PROJECT: Turner Power Generation were required to supply, install and commission 1 x 598 kVA diesel generating set, including a G59 control upgrade enabling the generator to participate in DSR.
CHALLENGE: The contract was for the removal of the existing generator, which was mounted on the roof of the building, associated fuel tank and pipework and the supply, installation, including a G59 control upgrade of a smaller more compact generator set up.
SOLUTION: A PDI was carried out off-site at our Sutton facilities prior to installation to ensure the generator was fit for purpose. The existing obsolete large containerised generator was removed by specialist lifting contractor and the new smaller compact generator installed with a new fuel transfer system and associated pipework to allow transfer of the fuel from ground level. A G59 control upgrade was installed connecting to the DSE 8610 Control Unit giving greater flexibility in terms of Breaker Control and Paralleling options as well as giving the client an “Open Protocol” solution which offers lower future maintenance costs.
CLIENT BENEFIT: The new more compact generator gave the client a modern, less maintenance solution that was capable of further functionality in terms of it’s ability to allow the client to earn revenue from participation in DSR schemes.
