Our engine overhaul process
Performed at select Service Centre locations, our rigorous overhaul process does more than repair and recondition your engine. It fully returns it to original factory specifications thanks to our complete technical expertise, product knowledge and procedures based on decades of experience as official dealers and distributors of the OEM.
Our process includes:
Inspection, Measurement & Evaluation
Every engine is overhauled from the ground up. They are disassembled part-by-part to clean, qualify and test, including a complete engine disassembly, paint and rust removed from all parts and components. All components are screened for the possibility of reuse to minimise cost for the customer. New components needed are always and exclusively genuine OEM parts, supplied from our in-house stock. Quality inside means you get a more reliable, dependable remanufactured engine.
Engine Re-Assembly
The engine reassembly processes include using remanufactured/rebuilt parts and components and new wear parts (gaskets, seals, bolts, screws, etc.) All new parts used are always OEM Genuine Parts. Our in-process inspection and tests will adhere to inspection plans, OEM specifications, including documentation of key dimensions throughout the re-assembly process.
Acceptance Testing & Final Preparation
Our engine test cell can handle most brands of diesel engines up to 3000bhp, and we can facilitate complete engine dynamometer testing to verify performance under expected operating conditions. FAT’s can also be facilitated (optional upon request). ,Following final inspection and test engines will be primed, painted, and packaged/preserved as per customer specification, ready for despatch.
Factory trained engineers
Our engineering teams also provide Application Engineering Support through to installation and Commissioning of both engines and transmissions for projects and in support of new product sales.
We overhaul a wide range of non-franchised engine types, including: John Deere, Cummins, Scania, Deutz, Doosan, Kamatsu, Caterpillar, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Sisu, Hatz, Yanmar, MAN and many more, returning your equipment to a just-like-new condition.
We are fully equipped to carry out full engine overhauls, and repairs on a wide range of industrial and marine diesel engine types.

Agriculture

Freightliner
Mitchell Powersystems (UK), are the Master Regional Parts Distribution and Technical Support Centre for Daimler Trucks North America, incorporating MTU, Detroit Diesel and Mercedes Benz On Highway Engines, Freightliner Trucks, Sterling Trucks, Western Star Trucks and Thomas Buses.
Marine
As with the MTU/Detroit Diesel service centres, based at key locations in the UK, Mitchell Powersystems have now incorporated STEYR MOTORS into the marine division. We continue to be the driving force in keeping leisure, commercial, military and rescue vessels in service.
Offshore
Mitchell Powersystems can provide solutions which enable diesel engines to operate in areas where explosive concentrations of gas vapour may exist, or where potentially explosive materials are handled. Core activities include flame/explosion protection for diesel engines supporting the on/offshore Oil & Gas industries.
Ports & Distribution
Parts & Service support for Engine, Transmission, PTO, Axle, Differential and Transfer Case products fitted in – Forklift Trucks, terminal Tractors, Reach Stackers, Ro Ro Trucks.
