Mitchell Powersystems, the sole Allison Transmission Distributor for the UK & Ireland is delighted to have secured an order to supply sixty Allison T2100 XFe Series™ fully automatic Transmissions from Switch Mobility for their Optare branded bus.
Mitchell Powersystems , the sole Allison Transmission Distributor for the UK & Ireland is delighted to have secured an order to supply sixty Allison T2100 XFe Series™ fully automatic Transmissions from Switch Mobility for their Optare branded bus. The Cummins powered 8.5m Solo slimline buses will have a seating capacity of twenty-eight and will replace Solo’s currently in service with Stagecoach’s fleet. Stagecoach being the largest bus operator within the UK.
Completion of the deal, scheduled to be delivered at the start of 2024, represents a major boost for Switch Mobility’s UK business, and confirms its decision to again manufacture diesel powered buses under the Optare brand. The Allison T2100 XFe brings economy and reliability, Optare was the first to introduce the T2100 XFe back in 2018.
xFE is another in a string of innovative, fuel saving ideas from Allison Transmission. xFE stands for Extra Fuel Economy. This fuel savings results from new gear ratios designed to squeeze more value from every tank of fuel. Key features of the Allison T2100 XFe include first gear lockup and Allison Transmissions Fuel Sense II™ control logic. The Switch Mobility order closely follows other recent order successes from Supacat for seventy 2500 Specialty Series™ (SP) Allison fully automatic Transmissions for the UK MOD’s Jackal High Mobility Truck Variants (HMT 400s), and an order from RBSL (Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land) for the first seventeen Allison 4800SP Series™ fully automatic Transmissions for the UK MOD’s Boxer armoured vehicle.
