Mitchell Powersystems take to the garden
15 members of the Mitchells’ Sutton workforce, travelled to Sheffield, over two days, to help transform the family garden for Alfie.
Through rain and shine, the team, supported by a Project Manager from WellChild, impressively ripped down the old fence, removed the current grass surface and rotavatored the soil, which was then levelled out. They then installed a new fence, turf, bark and a brand new decking area, to help Alfie enter the garden with greater ease.
Not to faze the workforce, the project was visited by BBC Radio Sheffield, who interviewed the Project Manager, Alfie’s parents as well as our very own Dean Watson. A professional photographer visited day two and took a few shots of the end product, awaiting pictures.
The family were extremely overwhelmed by the support provided to transform their garden and couldn’t do enough for the team, ensuring there was a regular supply of drinks and biscuits.
There was a fantastic atmosphere, with a great sense of commitment and comradery. Each member felt humble in the knowledge that they had been part of something that will really make a difference to Alfie’s play time. Alfie himself was absolutely delighted and surprised that all the activity and the end result, were all for him.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who worked like troupers to fulfil such a tall order, in a very short timeframe.
