Logistics Project - Improving the supply chain and service levels to our customers
With a view to further improving customer service levels and maximising the efficiency of their £7M stock holding, Mitchell Powersystems recently undertook a comprehensive review of their parts stock and distribution model.
The new warehouse facility located at our Sutton-in-Ashfield depot, includes 8 runs of pallet racking, 5 metres high, accommodating new engine & transmission stock and larger part items. However, some 90% of the parts stock is housed in a new computerised vertical storage carousel. The carousel has its own warehouse management system that has been fully integrated with the company parts business software and occupies a floor space of just 16 square metres, with a storage capacity of 188 linear metres.
Currently the new facility houses over 8,000 SKU's (part numbers) and over the next 12 months will see this increase to over 15,000 SKU's.
“This significant change and investment in our distribution model will bring significant stock availability and lead time benefits to our customers.”
