A fond farewell to Bob Blackstock
The end of July 2015 marks the end of an era for Bob and the Mitchell Group of Companies. Having started work in 1967, Bob moved to Central Diesel in 1986, running the Nottingham branch, with 4 colleagues, supporting Perkins and Rolls Royce products.
In 1993 Central Diesel purchased Perkins Power depots in Birmingham and Manchester. Bob and 3 colleagues moved to the Birmingham depot and were major contributors to developing the depot and brands.
Moving to Mitchell Powersystems Sutton Depot in 2007, Bob headed up the Parts Department, which he grew in size and strength over the years and greatly contributed to the transition of the Centralised Logistics programme. In addition, Bob was also very involved in developing new business with Daimler Trucks North America and the Volvo Penta account.
Bob sharing some treasured memories of his visits to customers and suppliers over the years. Although he will miss the business challenges he has had to encounter on a daily basis, it is the people and some special friendships he has developed, that he will miss the most.
Bob, you will be greatly missed in person and expertise, but all the very best for a long and happy, well deserved, retirement, from all at the Mitchell Group of Companies.
Taking over Bob's challenges, we are pleased to welcome Chris Key into the role. Chris joined our Mitchell's Sutton Depot July 1979 in the Parts Receipt /Despatch Department, moving to New Product Sales within 12/18 months and then on to Aftermarket Field Sales.
The aftermarket sales role evolved to support the Perkins/Rolls Royce franchise partnership and so Chris joined Bob at our Central Diesel Nottingham Deopt in 1986. As the Central Diesel business expanded, it was moved to a newly established Birmingham Depot in 1993, concentrating on parts sales.
Chris later became Central Diesel Birmingham Branch Manager in July 2007, primarily promoting and managing the product support for our FPT Iveco and FG Wilson franchise partners. Best of luck in your new role Chris.
